The short answer is yes, absolutely! EECOL.com uses bank-grade security systems to ensure the absolute security of your payment information and personal details. Interested in learning more? Read on!
Obscuring Credit Card Numbers
It is never secure to store credit card numbers in plain text. As such, part of this bank-grade encryption includes obscuring, or tokenizing, full credit card numbers. The only information that is retained in plain text is the last four digits of your card number and the expiry date, simply to help you identify which card was used at the time of purchase.
The other card numbers and details such as your card's CVV will be obscured from view, typically showing as a row of special characters. Below is an example of how your card information may look after processing a payment online:
Card Number: **** **** **** 1234
Expiry: 11/27
CVV: ***
As you can see from the example above, the card details have been redacted and are impossible to interpret!
Storing Credit Card Numbers
It can be really tempting to save your credit card number in plain text, especially if the same card is shared amongst multiple team members. It's really important to note that it is never secure to store card details in plain text, whether hand written or stored digitally. This risks unauthorized access to your card number & ultimately risks your card being compromised.
